Flying Pig Marathon ranked No. 1 by runners around the country - The Cincinnati Enquirer

The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon is number one on BibRave's list of the country's best marathons.

BibRave is a running community that connects runners with races, according to their website. Their list of the top 20 U.S. marathons includes the Boston Marathon and the marathon at Walt Disney World – but Cincinnati's came out on top this year.

The ranking is based on an end-of-the-year survey BibRave users take, where runners rate running events from across the country.

"They have volunteers just to take pictures of you with your own camera at the top of the hardest hill that gets you to the best view. Who does that?" one runner wrote.

BibRave noted the race's commitment to the pig theme, with its start at the corral "pig pens" to the "finish swine" line. 

“We are honored to be in such prestigious company with Disney, Marine Corps and Boston marathons,” said Iris Simpson Bush, Flying Pig executive director. “We work very hard to make sure our participants enjoy the weekend, from the P&> Health and Fitness Expo to the Finish Swine. We thank BibRave and all the participants for choosing us number one.”

BibRave also placed the Flying Pig Marathon in the Top 10 list of Themed Races, Experience Category Top 10 and honored the race with the Green Lion Award for recycling efforts.

The 2020 Flying Pig Marathon powered by P&> is scheduled for May 3. You can register for the race online for $100 through Jan. 31. Registration for the half marathon, 10K, 5K and other weekend races are also on the Race Roster website.
